In 2009 the Coachella Valley and the local construction industry lost a well known and much admired member when Ray Purnel passed away.   Ray’s Company, Purnel Construction, was a fixture in the area for more than 27 years, and the company’s closure left a void in the community.

Over the years, Ray’s guidance had instilled in his employees a strong foundation of ethics, a belief in open communication and a broad knowledge base.  Ray’s employees not only felt his loss deeply, but also felt a responsibility to their Clients and Professional Contacts, as well as a strong desire to keep Ray’s forward vision alive.

 

escondero development, inc. was born out of that desire. 

 

In 2011 Scott Miller -- Ray’s Project Manager and Budget Director, and a General Contractor in his own right -- along with Roberto Brassea and Manuel Fabian, the Field Supervisors, and Francisco Garcia, Head Carpenter, reorganized the company and opened as escondero development, inc.

Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley are escondero’s home.  Most of our subcontractors are local professionals, licensed and insured, are solution oriented and have worked with us on a regular basis.  We also do business with noted architects,  designers and suppliers from around the world.

 

While our focus is on architecturally significant buildings, large residential remodels, additions and custom homes, we also handle retail and office construction and remodels. Our key to managing our projects is having one of our Construction Superintendents -- all competent, supportive professionals -- assigned to your home. 

Our Superintendents are knowledgeable about construction and are great planners.  They will be on site during the many phases of your project’s construction, supervising subcontractors such as electricians, plumbers, dry-wallers and painters to make sure every detail that you have requested is fulfilled.  We pick the most professional companies for your pool and landscaping installation.

 

Communication is very important to escondero development and you will be apprised of each phase of your home during the process.  We believe in being upfront with changes to architectural plans, delays in products and will work with you to provide solutions to keep the project on track.
